Why should I select an ASA accredited appraiser?
An ASA accredited appraiser is tested and experienced. We meet the standards set by the IRS and fulfill the need for excellence and integrity required by the legal and accounting professions.
To maintain this designation, we are required to successfully complete a comprehensive course - Uniform Standard Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) - every five years.
An ASA Accredited Senior Appraiser carries the highest designation attainable, indicating the appraiser
Meets all criteria of testing in ethics, principles of practice and their discipline
Has 5 years or more of appraisal experience
Achieves recertification every five (5) years.

They may, but I must look at them closely and perhaps do some research before I can place a value on any of them. Photos of the object cannot give me enough details to make a determination.

Yes. Even if I'm not familiar with a specific item, I do have resources for collecting market information to determine current value.
